1960s Checklists

I have made some subjective choices while determining which cards to collect from which sets, and deep into this adventure I decided that it would be worthwhile to also collect the checklist cards from each base set. I do not consider these to be technically part of the Bruins team set from the same year, so not having them (yet) does not render any of those individual years incomplete. Again, in my humble and subjective opinion.

The 1980s checklists are easy. The earlier checklists, particularly from the 1960s, are rather scarce in any condition even remotely presentable. I'm okay with getting the more affordable, marked-up checklists – after all, that's exactly how the checklist cards were designed to be used.

For the 1960s, Topps first started adding checklist cards in the 1961-62 set, and there were no O-Pee-Chee sets in the 1960s until 1968-69. And since Parkhurst didn't feature any Bruins players after 1955, their 1960s checklists are uninteresting to me. This is just my long way of explaining why the entire set listed below seems so small, compared to the 1970s checklists and 1980s checklists.

The best checklist I have is 1962-63 Topps – it is unmarked and in stunning condition in spite of its age.

The most interesting checklist is the second checklist from 1965-66 Topps, which did not include the short-printed cards in the set (Gordie Howe and the 6 team cards). The two O-Pee-Chee sets here are also interesting in that the checklist for the 2nd series (133+) occurs within the 1st series (1-132), appears on the 1st series checklist, and has a lower number (31/61) than the 1st series checklist (121/132). It's weird, and not the last time I'll ask, "What were they thinking?"
