This set features the Mike Bossy rookie, the last O-Pee-Chee card featuring Bobby Orr (until Upper Deck took over 30 years later), and not much else of any consequence. The Bruins cards are full of traded players and bad airbrushing, a problem that would plague all sports for at least the next 10 years – see this story about Mike Laga, who I still remembered by name from collecting 1987 Topps when it was brand new, precisely because of that horrible pink airbrush job.
Two of the cards feature players the Bruins traded away mid-season (Gregg Sheppard and Dick Redmond), but only O-Pee-Chee indicates the trade. These trades were roster moves for "future considerations," so there are no inverse cards to collect for incoming players.
Ron Grahame looks like he falls in the same boat, but his inclusion in this set is baffling. The Bruins traded Grahame to the Kings for a draft pick way back in 1973, and he was long retired by 1978. This seems to be one of the most egregious examples of Topps relying on previous years' player lists and photo inventory to fill a checklist. I suspect it may have been filler for another player who was removed from the set, but I have no backing for that.
