1994 Parkhurst Missing Link

This set was aimed at showing how a set might have looked if Parkhurst had produced a set in 1956-57. Even if they had, it is doubtful the Bruins would have been included. They had decided, after the release of 1954-55 Topps, which featured only the American teams at the time, to only produce cards for the two Canadian teams (Toronto/Montreal). Parkhurst would eventually expand their set to include Detroit in 1960-61, but no Bruins player appeared on an original Parkhurst card again until their resurgence in the early 1990s.

My favorite thing about this set is that it included several Terry Sawchuk cards, a great goaltender, but sadly wasn't with the Bruins long enough to appear on any real releases of the day. He came from the Red Wings after the 1954-55 Topps release, and went back to the Red Wings before 1957-58 Topps was produced.

Another neat aspect of this set: the pop-ups, limited to 1,000 copies, made to look like the 1936-37 O-Pee-Chee V304D series. The Eddie Shore is quite nice.
